Antique 1861 US Navy Colt Conversion .38 center Fire. Some Finish. Excellent Bore & Mechanics
Description:
SOLD...Colt 1861 US Navy Convertion to center fire. Here is a bit above average Colt 1861 Conversion. It is in the very sought after .38 center fire caliber as all US Navies are. Has the RWM with anchor inspectors marks on the bottom of the barrel {see photos}.. Has the standard 7 1/2" barrel that has not been cut or restored. The bore is near excellent, bright and shiny with just a few very minor specks of roughness. All matching numbers but not the cylinder as you can see this is very common on these conversions. Colt just did not match the cylinders to the guns after converted and used cylinders from the Colt 51 Navy and mixed 61 Navy cylinders. Some you will find matching and others will not. No number on the rear face of the cylinder either. The gun is excellent mechanics and locks up like a new gun. Barrel address is all there but a little light in the photos. Gun has very good traces of original blue on the barrel and also very good traces of case colors on the rear of the frame around the recoil shield. Chambers are clean and not pitted. Original front sight never filed on or messed with. Has the proper conversion PAT. dates over the original percussion PAT. dates. Has the original ejector rod and head. Grips are very nice with no major cracks or chips but show a couple places where they have had a small amount of some sort of filler.{see photos}. Original fit is excellent. The gun has no pitting. The screws are all good and not burred up. Not much cylinder scene left but traces. Here is a pretty nice untouched US 61 Colt Navy Conversion not often see for sale. Most you see are very well worn and have cut barrels. This is a nice one at a very reasonable price. Don't miss it !!! $35 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.
