Berlin Police Model of 1886 German Revolver
SOLD
Description:
For sale, a interesting and unique German Police/Military revolver in beautiful condition. According to A.B. Zhuk in "Handguns of the World", this revolver was a favorite of German policeman before the turn of the century. There is no maker's name stamped on this revolver, but it has German proof marks stamped in several places. This "Berlin Police Model of 1886" is in perfect working order. The blue finish, checkered wooden grips, and bore are all in excellent condition. There are some very small areas of surface corrosion scattered about, but they do not detract from the overall appearance of this neat antique revolver. The bores in both the barrel and the cylinder are remarkably clean given the corrosive ammunition of the time. The rifling shows no visible wear and is strong and sharp. The bore measures right at 9mm or .35 caliber. This was likely a rimmed black powder cartridge as you can see from the back of the cylinder. This revolver was well made and finished, and is typical of the quality of German produced weapons of this era. This would be a great addition to any military collection, and is both a great conversation piece and an investment.
