BRITISH STANTON & CO. WEBLEY PRYSE .450 BOXER DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER, CIRCA 1880's.
Description:
BRITISH STANTON & CO. WEBLEY PRYSE .450 BOXER DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER, CIRCA 1880's. Serial number "C58XXX". 4 1/4" barrel. Framed stamped "Joint Patent/ Stanton & Co." over serial number. Birmingham proofs throughout but possibly made in Belgium as evidenced by finger hook on triggerguard, lack of cylinder pin retaining screw on left side(one or two less manufacturing steps). Refinished overall is blue/plum. Markings it has are a bit washed out but visible. Lanyard ring in butt with traces of nickel(possible original finish on rest of gun). Wood checkered two-piece grips. Stanton was an agent and had many Webley Pryse revolvers made in the U.K. and on the continent(Belgium beingone of the largest gunmakers in Europe). Working order save indexing(intermittant). Make a handsome display for any Victorian era military grouping. Montcrief Pryse patent.
