Antique Smith & Wesson 2nd Model SA .38. Excellent Mechanics. Tight As New.
Description:
SOLD..Antique Smith & Wesson SA 2nd model 38 caliber. Here is a nice above average Smith & Wesson 2nd model SA. Caliber is the S&W .38 black powder. Has the standard 3 1/4" barrel. S/N 66513 and matching throughout of course. The barrel has about 75% original nickel finish. The cylinder has 90% and the frame has 80%. Quite a bit of original finish as you can see. The balance of the finish is a smooth light gray to medium dark brown patina where the nickel finish has worn and flaked off and has never been cleaned on or messed with..NO pitting on the gun anywhere. The barrel latch has most all the bright blue finish as does the trigger. ALL the markings are sharp and clear. The case colors on the sides of the hammer have faded to a light silver color and just a little case color showing on the left side of the hammer. ALL the case color is remaining on the back of the hammer. The mechanics are all excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. NO cylinder movement side to side or front to rear. It locks up bank vault tight on all 5 chambers. Both hammer notches are perfect and very positive. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the hinge. This gun is tight as new everywhere. The grips are excellent as well with NO cracks or chips and a perfect factory fit all around. They still show luster and very sharp checkering with very little wear. The bore is near excellent and is bright and shiny with just a couple small spots of roughness. The chambers are excellent with NO roughness. This gun would be an excellent shooter with the proper black powder loads of course. ALL the screw heads are sharp and not all burred up. Excellent un touched front sight. Just a very nice and never messed with little Smith & Wesson for the middle of the road collector. I have sold many that were near mint for close to $1000 and have a few with less finish for less money so I try to please everyone as price and condition go. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $15 insured priority shipping.
