Belgian Copy of a S&W No. 2 with Swiss Cantonal Marking
Description:
Serial #11, .32 RF, 6" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
This is a high quality, “EL/G" proofed copy of the famous S&W No. 2 tip-up revolver that has spurious Smith & Wesson markings along the barrel rib and around the cylinder.
The metal has an overall mottled gray patina with some small spots of blue still visible on the breech-end of the barrel.
The right side of the barrel is marked with what could be the maker's emblem: “BF" in and oval; and the left side has the heraldic emblem of the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft.
The walnut grips are in very good shape with only minor handling marks and light wear at the butt.
This is a very unusual and interesting revolver; itself a copy of an iconic American handgun, with what is probably a Swiss police or gendarme marking.
