ENGLISH COPY OF SMITH & WESSON No. 1
Description:
To see it in a display one would say it was a Smith & Wesson No. 1 2nd issue. Closer examination shows that it is a knock-off of the Smith & Wesson and is marked "W H Blanch Liverpool patent 367" on the top bbl rib. I don't believe we have ever had another like it in the shop. Same size and configuration as the Smith & Wesson No. 1 and has the 7-shot 22 Short cylinder. Same hinge. Same locking device. Virtually a knock-off with the exception of proof marks on the cylinder and also on the bottom of the bbl. This gun is in good cond. Pretty solid with just slight movement at the hinge pin which was common. Lock up is nice and crisp. Solid when locked up. Hammer and trigger springs work good. Indexing works good. Nice cond with just some flaking to the finish which is a gold color. Evidently originally nickel plated and began turning color. Looks good. Nice fitting good condition Ivory grips. If you have a collection of these antique early revolvers, this would be a great addition. Very seldom if ever seen!
