"SCHOFIELD 45
Description:
A very scarce and rare opportunity to own an original SCHOFIELD 45 millitary issued in 1876. This is the second model with only around 5000 ever made. It is of the higher strength steal of the day. It is very very scarce to find one of these with the original 7 1/2" barrel. Most of them were cut down when they entered the civilian market. This gun was re-issued a state National Guard as marked on the rear of the butt. ( 38 NATIONAL GUARD W ) I am so sorry about the pictures. I will update with better ones by the end of the week. I think W is for West Virginia as there were two other guns with serial numbers on eather side of this one that are noted as being shipped there I think with 83 guns in 1887. There are two innitials marked on the grips with the same size dies as the National Guard. It was inspected with an "E". The front sight has been modified in the 1800's The bore is still very good.
