Smith and Wesson M&P With Gold Box "S" Prefix 1945
Description:
Serial #S992720, .38 Special, 5” barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
This is an early production gun with desirable “S” prefix, and has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, barrel, yoke, and extractor.
The metal retains 99% of the original blue finish with only very minor silvering on the muzzle and a mild turn-ring on the cylinder.
The hammer and trigger retain a commensurate amount of their original color case-hardening with a few touches of gray at a few of the edges.
The checkered, diamond-center, walnut grips with S&W medallions are numbered to the gun on the interior and are in excellent condition with a few small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about both panels.
The revolver has tight lock-up and is mechanically flawless.
Included is an original, un-numbered, Gold box in very good condition with the "Helpful Hints" paper inside. This is a superb example of a 1945 or 1946-made S&W and would make an exemplary addition to any collection.
