Smith and Wesson Revolver U.S. Express Co. Marked
Description:
Serial #209046, .38 S&W, 3 1/4” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few small spots of freckling within the grooves towards the muzzle.
This 4th Model revolver has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, extractor, and latch with the metal retaining about 50% of the original blue finish that has faded and silvered extensively
on the exposed areas of the frame and barrel.
Some scattered spots of mild brown freckling are also present throughout the metal.
The color case-hardening has faded on the trigger to a predominately mottled gray patina, but there are some hints of original color still remaining. The checkered hard rubber factory grips remain in nearly excellent condition with a few minor handling marks. The lock-up
is still tight, although there is some slight lateral play between the frame and barrel, and the action functions flawlessly. The left side of the barrel is boldly hand stamped “US X 209046” with the issue/rack number “3544” hand stamped on the top of the right frame near the hump.
This is a great railroad express company used “Lemon-Squeezer” in very good plus condition.
