Civil War Starr Double Action .44 Caliber Revolver
Description: SOLD!!! Manufactured by the Starr Arms Company of New York City, this cap and ball percussion arm is an original double-action Model 1858 Army revolver in fair condition. Dark patina with no pitting. Repair on trigger guard. Hammer holds when cocked and falls when you pull the trigger but cylinder does not advance. SN 7619. Early production. Last two numbers on cylinder hard to read but readable although faint under the trigger on the frame. If you like rustic, well used, and affordable then this one is for you . This one saw the Elephant. If you like minty and want to pay an arm and a leg for a Starr like some you see listed look elsewhere. Could have been used by either side Confederate or Union. These weapons were in production from the late 1850’s through the early 1860s with a total of some 23,000 units produced at the company’s Binghamton and Yonkers New York facilities. Price to sell.
