Post-CIVIL WAR Cartridge Convert of STARR Revolver
Description: Post-CIVIL WAR Cartridge Convert of STARR Revolver .44 Centerfire Conversion of Single Action Starr Army Here we present an antique Starr Arms Co. Single Action Model 1863 Army Revolver, made circa 1863 in New York City. Only about 32,000 were made and about 25,000 were purchased by the US government for the American Civil War. Starr revolvers were one of the top handguns found on Civil War battlefields. This specimen is government inspector cartouched on both sides of the walnut grip. Single letter inspector marks are found all over. This gun was almost certainly sold on the surplus market after the war, then converted to shoot metallic cartridges. It is now chambered for a .44 centerfire ammunition. Various conversions were performed on old percussion revolvers as a matter of practicality, and taken all over the Unites States, including out West. This one features a cylinder modified to take cartridges, and a recoil plate with a spring-loaded firing pin. The overall condition is good to very good. The metal surfaces bear some blue with the rest dark with age. The serial numbers match, with the exception of the converted cylinder. The walnut grips are quite worn from long use. The bore is very good with strong rifling. The action is functional with slight roughness. Here is a fantastic Civil War revolver that saw use long after the war! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8 inches. Caliber: .44 Centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1600 #5390 SOLD Antique: Yes |
