Ornate OTTOMAN Antique Flintlock Blunderbuss
Description: Ornate OTTOMAN Antique Flintlock Blunderbuss Silver Adorned and Engraved FLINTLOCK Circa 1800 Here we present an antique Ottoman Turkish Flintlock Blunderbuss, made circa 1800. The flintlock blunderbuss was the original coach gun, being a short, handy and devastating weapon at close range, some even having bayonets permanently affixed. It was capable of firing up to 20 buckshot in front of 120 grains of black powder, according to Spencer Tucker in Almanac of American Military History, Volume 1. It was used in many capacities, not the least of which were for Naval boarding or defending vessels, stagecoach and messenger companies, home defense and more. This specimen has beautiful high relief engraving on the barrel. A small gold inlaid stamp is likely the maker’s mark. Barrel bands and the band around the wrist of the stock are engraved silver. The Ottoman ay-y?ld?z or crescent star is mounted in silver on the butt stock on each side. Six pointed stars appear repeatedly. The lock is engraved and also inscribed. This is one gorgeous weapon! The overall condition is very good. The piece is very old and the silver has darkened with time. The iron parts have also darkened evenly. The engraving and other markings are clear and visible. The stock is well-decorated and the silver band around the wrist is a very old repair. The bore is in very good condition. The trigger moves, but the cock is currently frozen. Nevertheless, this piece is a work of art. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 14 inches in length. Caliber: 1-1/4 at the bell of the muzzle. Bore is in very good condition and the action is frozen. Overall condition as seen in photos. This would make a magnificent display piece! Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1900 #10385 SOLD Antique: Yes |
