Description: Trapdoor Springfield Carbine, Indian decorated, sn 411627. Condition, typical Indian usage. Buttstock stamped N. Y. M. P. CO, (New York Motion Picture Company) , which was a silent film company based in Brooklyn, New York, established in 1909. Director, Frances Ford, brother of John Ford, director of classic westerns with John Wayne. The films were distributed by the Mutual Film Corporation. A few 1912 films where this carbine may have been used. "Custer's Last Fight", Director, Francis Ford. Ford played Custer. "The Invaders", actor and director. "The Deserters", actor. Discovered in the TITANIC'S cargo manifest there is an entry for a case of films addressed to the New York Film Company. A rare treasure of silent movie history. Functions and shoots perfectly.
