LEHIGH VALLEY PENNSYLVANIA FLINTLOCK LONGRIFLE SIGNED JOHN MOLL CIRCA 1800-10.
Description: LEHIGH VALLEY PENNSYLVANIA FLINTLOCK LONGRIFLE SIGNED JOHN MOLL CIRCA 1800-10. 60” overall with 44” octagon .45 caliber barrel engraved in script at the breech “JOHN * MOLL”. Maple stock with acute curve “ROMAN NOSE” butt with engraved brass patch box and silver mounts including an oval thumb piece engraved with the script initials “ML”. Engraved silver eight point compass star on cheek rest and engraved silver “INDIAN HEAD” on forend. Very good overall as a well done reconversion to flint using old and aged contemporary lock parts. Stock with old original brass plate wrist repair which adds to the appeal of this rifle as it is quite handsomely done. Stock has an old repair on the forend at the rear pipe and a very small toe chip. Otherwise original with the original ramrod. Scarce rifle and by one of the most famous makers of the Lehigh valley school of makers. SOLD Antique: Yes |
