SCARCE Swivel Double Barrel O/U Long Rifle
Description: SCARCE Swivel Double Barrel O/U Long Rifle With Both a Rifled & Smooth Bore Here we present an antique Double Barrel Percussion Long Rifle with Swiveling Barrels, made circa 1850 in the United States. Compared to their single barrel brethren, these double barrel long rifles are quite scarce, as well as being diverse. Some have been made in the “Mule Ear” fashion, with two flat hammers mounted on the side of the gun, one for each barrel. This one has been made with one hammer, with the superposed barrels rotating at the breech end with the press of a lever to present each respective percussion nipple and sights. Each barrel has its own rifle type sights, though one of the bores is rifled and one is smooth. This specimen has a "JOSH GOLCHER” marked lock. Each barrel is octagonal. The rifled bore is .44 caliber, while the smooth bore is .45. The sides of the barrel are decorated with brass sleeves, the right one acts as the ramrod holder. The stock is a very nice tiger striped maple. The butt plate and trigger guard are of brass, with the guard also acting as a pistol grip. The trigger mechanism appears to be a period and possibly frontier type of modification, with the rear set trigger deleted and the hole filled. Still very functional. The overall condition is very good. The iron is dark and uniform with age. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is strong and attractive. The bores are clean with good rifling the rifled bore. The action is functional. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 38 inches in length. Caliber: .44 in the rifled bore and .45 in the smooth bore Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2000 #10442 SOLD Antique: Yes |
