Blaser S2 Double Rifle in 470 NE
Description:
This is a near-perfect Blaser S2 double rifle chambered in the popular African 470 NE caliber. It has not been fired since it was regulated at Blaser USA, using the less-expensive Hornady 470 ammunition, with both bullets holes near-touching at 50 meters. The Hornady ammunition is 1/3rd to 1/2 the cost of the Federal or European ammunition.
With the tilting block breech, the Blaser is the safest double rifle available. The "safety" lever is not really a safety, but actually loads the firing pins into battery when engaged. Until that point, the firing pins are held inside the receiver, making a discharge impossible.
If failing eyesight requires the use of a scope on a double rifle, the Blaser receiver is machined to take their "saddlemount" scope mount system, easily removeable for close-in work.
Any marks you see on the rifle are water; it was drizzling a bit when I took these photos.
If you've wanted to get into double rifles, but don't want to spend the $15,000-$25,000 usually required, this would be the way to go.
