This rifle is a 2011 SHOT Show Special by the Browning firm. This Stainless Stalker X-Bolt is chambered in the powerful safari/dangerous game caliber .375 H&H Magnum. The .375 Holland & Holland Magnum cartridge was introduced in 1912 as the ultimate all-around dangerous game cartridge. African guides, professional hunters, and dangerous game hunters all over the world have repeatedly voted the .375 H&H Magnum as their preferred cartrdige if he/she could only have one rifle. At the 2011 SHOT Show, Browning introduced their popular X-Bolt Model rifle in the .375 H&H Magnum. This special X-Bolt rifle has a stainless steel receiver and 24" inch barrel with a lightweight black composite stock. The X-Bolt is unique in that it has very short 60 degree bolt throw for fast cycling, and allows optics to be mounted much lower to the bore axis. This X-Bolt also features a factory adjustable 3-lever "Feather" trigger, "X-lock" 4-screw scope bases, barrel-mounted adjustable iron sights, a free floated barrel and bedded action, and a 3-round capacity polymer rotary magazine. These rifles were designed to flat out shoot and be ultra-reliable. While technically used, this X-Bolt is in excellent condition and shows no wear or scratches. From the looks of the exterior and interior, it has been test fired only. The bore is mirror bright and clean, with the rifling showing sharp lands and grooves. The rotary magazine also shows no evidence of being loaded previously. The original owner bought the rifle with intentions of an Africa or Alaska trip that never materialized so the rifle has been in storage since new. Sorry, the original box and owners manual was not retained. If you have been looking for a large caliber, lightweight and accurate rifle for Brown Bear and/or Moose here in the States, or dangerous African game abroad, this Browning X-Bolt would be an excellent choice.
