Lantarka Cannon - 44" with Stand - Manufacturer Unknown - Made in Germany Between 1780 - 1850
Description: Lantarka weighs approximately 73.0 pounds. The stand approximately weighs 18.6 pounds. The total weight is approximately 91.6 pounds and the Lantarka measures approximately 44 inches in length. The Lantarka is cast in Bronze. The stand is hand wrought iron that has a faux bronze antique finish of museum quality. The manufacturer is unknown, but research indicates that it was made in Germany sometime between 1780 and 1850. It came from a castle in Burma. It along with much older military armor were buried oustside the castle together, just before WWII, prior to the Japanese invasion. After the war they were purchased by J. B. Harrison, a civil engineer and cannon collector. Early in 1987 I purchased this Lantarka from Mr. Harrison, who had it stored in an old office building in Richmond, Texas. It has no visible battle scars or other damage and it's condition is very good overall. Being on stands and not ship or castle railings it is more precarious, just as they would be in a museum. Therefore, they should be secured, as to not allow them to fall over if accidentally bumped. SOLD Antique: Yes Condition: Very Good Metal Condition: Very Good |
