Extremely Rare One of a Kind Ball Prototype. This is the Ball Patent Model and it is marked so on the top of the barrel. The Ball carbine was one of the more rare breech-loading Civil War carbines with just 1,002 manufactured. These guns were made for the Civil War, but did not make it into service before the war was over. This is a one of a kind that closely resembles the finished product. The receiver is blued and the barrel was finished in the white. The condition is very fine. It is an unusual action as you must fully cock the hammer to work the action. Truly a one of a kind!!!
