MODEL 1865 SPENCER CARBINE / PLUS ANTIQUE CARTRIDGES
Description: This Spencer carbine has a 20" barrel with six groove rifling with a very nice bore. Action is fully functional, works on both half and full cock. Carbine shows a dark gray metal finish, minor surface pitting. Wood is in good shape, nice walnut finish,no major cracks or repairs. The rear loading tube magazine is in excellent shape and operates freely. It has both the ladder rear sight, front sight, saddle bar and ring and butt stock sling. No Stabler cut-off, looks like it was removed. The first Model1865 carbines were delivered in the spring of 1865. Matching serial number 12160. Might have seen little Civil War action. This rare 1865 was produced by Spencer, most were produced by the Burnside Mfg.Co. The Model 1865 and the Spencer address with the 1860 patent date are clearly marked on the barrel and breech. Included with this carbine, is a one sealed box of seven antique.56-50 cartridges, the opened one pictured was for display. Shell chambers nicely in the breech, because of their age they are being sold as a collectable item only. This combination is a great find at this selling price. It would make a great addition to a firearm collection. Pre 1898 antique, no FFL required. Free shipping Tracking number provided. No sales to California SOLD Antique: Yes |
