CIVIL WAR Antique AUSTRIAN IMPORT 1849 Musket
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique AUSTRIAN IMPORT 1849 Musket Converted from Tubelock to Percussion in Liege Here we present an antique Austrian Model 1849 Kammerbuchsen Musket, made circa the 1850s in Austrian. This musket was originally built with a tubelock firing mechanism, but was converted in Liege, Belgium before being sold to the US government during the American Civil War. Arms shortages were most acutely felt for the North in the early years of the war, before domestic production was able to ramp up. These saw significant service in the Western Theater in states like Missouri. This example is marked “382/26./4.”, most likely a unit marking. Austrian marking on the lock. This musket utilized a Belgian type percussion conversion and the work done in Liege is still apparent. The trigger guard, side plate and butt plate are brass, whereas the other hardware is iron. The rear sight features a fixed V notch with a leaf with apertures for set distances, very unique. The bore has 12 grooves. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a dark gray patina. The stock is in good shape, showing standard military use. The bore is in very good condition with good rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a very large bore Austrian musket that was used during the American Civil War! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 32 inches. Caliber: .71 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
