Westley Richards Sidelock ejectors 450/400 3” with extra 470 NE barrels.
Description: Sale pending!!! Westley Richards Sidelock ejectors 450/400 3” with extra 470 NE barrels.
Sale pending!!! Comes in oak & leather case with maker label and nice complements of accessories.
Made in 1920 For Lyon And Lyon LTD in Calcutta, this rifle has a very large frame with the Westley C bolting. With the 26” 450 /400 barrels it weighs 11 # 10 OZ .That barrel is shoe lump, with one standing, four folding rear sights, ivory front bead with flip up moon sight.
The bores are shiny with crisp rifling and measure .410”. The chambers are spotless and blacking is 99%.
The size of the frame was inviting for the additional 470 Ne. That set of tubes was added in England post 1954. They are 25” chopper lump, and bring the weight of the rifle at 11 pounds. They have over sized standing leaf (2 folding) and front bead, for challenged, aging eye balls…..The original sight configuration could be restored easily.
The bores condition are excellent, so are the chambers, blacking a solid 90%.
The locks are back action, seven pins , in great condition inside and out with 90% colors.
The action shows about 50% of it’s colors, as I mentioned earlier it is a C bolting third fastener, automatic safety, bushed firing pins.
Both set of barrels share the same forend, which has box type ejector mechanism, Deeley latch, and horn tip. It has a couple hairline cracks, but remains in overall good condition.
The stock has been cracked in Africa about 12 years ago, I repaired it then and it has been holding well. The stock has a 14 3/4” LOP over a 1”-pad.
The rifle has been serviced at the end of each season in my shop for the last 15 years.
I shot the gun again this morning with both sets of barrels , getting 2 “ groups out of each at 55 yards. The gun is priced $ 47,000.00 with a new stock to your dimensions in a blank of equal quality (delay for completion 6 to 8 months).
