Harrington & Richardson Model 340 Rifle Custom in 30-06 Caliber
Description:
Manufactured for a total of only three years between 1981 to 1983, the H&R Model 340 bolt action rifle was a very nice rifle that is seldom seen today. It featured a factory gloss blue finish with a 22 inch barrel, 3 shot internal magazine with a hinged floorplate, and an adjustable trigger. It was made by H&R by using the very best FN (Belgian) sourced action mated with a barrel made in-house. They were the top of the line in the H&R rifle line. This particular Model 340 has had some custom work done to it including installing iron sights and some stock work, including reshaping and refinishing and adding a contrasting tip and grip cap. These came from H&R with no sights from the factory and this example has had a Williams "Guide" receiver sight added at the rear, and a barrel band front sight installed at the muzzle. As you can see in the pictures it is a beautiful rifle and is in excellent shape, except for a small crack in the wrist that does not go all the way thru to the bottom. It still retains the original factory blue finish and has a perfect bright bore with strong rifling and no signs of pitting or erosion. This is a very fine rifle with a lot of class, based off of an action that is well known for excellent accuracy. The receiver was factory drilled and tapped for optics. If you were to build a rifle today with the same quality parts and stock that H&R used to build this rifle, you would end up spending several times what this rifle is priced.
