Holland & Holland No. 2 Hammerless Double Rifle, circa 1911, .500/.465 NE, 10 lbs. 15 oz., original 26" fluid steel barrels, raised half rib with one standing and two folding leaves marked "100", "200", and "300" and a raised ramp front sight with a fixed blade sight and a flip-up low light sight, barrels engraved "Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London" and "Winners Of All The Field Rifle Trials, London", rib extension with extra bite, extractors, Dominion style backaction with hand detachable locks and gold line cocking indicators, border engraving, about 30% original case colors remaining, bottom of action engraved "Charge, 75 Grains Cordite, .500/.465, Case 3 1/4 Inches", full length trigger guard to a steel trap door grip cap with extra sight inside, top lever, top safety with "Safe" in gold, long top strap, forend with long lever release, very nicely figured 14 1/8" LOP English walnut stock with cheekpiece, vacant oval, and red Silvers pad, original sling loops. An excellent pre-war Holland in Holland's proprietary .465 Nitro round made just 4 years after the cartridge's development due to England's ban of the .458 diameter bullets. Excellent condition along with barrels and rifling showing minor use marks on the wood. Cased in a period leather trunk case with Holland label and some Holland accessories. Comes with letter from Holland and Ledger page, also with an invoice from Kirk Merrington showing he re-regulated the barrels in 2014 and a target showing a four shot grouping of 1 1/2" off-hand at 50 yards. Also with approx. $700 worth of ammo from Kynoch, Holland, Westley Richards, and hand loads along with Woodleigh bullets and dies.
