Description: RARE ORIGINAL H.E. DIMICK & CO. ST. LOUIS PERCUSSION FUR TRADE ERA MOUNTAIN RIFLE CA. 1840’S. 51” overall with 35” heavy weight .60 caliber rifled barrel stamped “H. E. DIMICK & CO./ST. LOUIS”. Lock lightly engraved and signed forward of the hammer “H.E. DIMICK”. Walnut half stock with checkered wrist and forend with horn cap and Mountain Rifle double forend wedges having silver escutcheons with one missing. Stock wrist with old calcified absolutely original leather wrap. Butt stock with 9 genuine and period “original to the gun” brass trade tacks. Steel mounts including the nicely engraved trigger guard. Single trigger. 100% original and with all the original parts. Hickory ramrod shows proper aging and appears to be original to the period. Very good overall with the original dark patina on the metal and old patinated finish on the finish on the wood. Old chip missing from toe of butt and equally old sliver missing from just forward of the lock. Classic big bore St. Louis Mountain Rifle of the Fur Trade by one of the most famous gun makers of the era. SOLD Antique: Yes |
