DELUXE ENGRAVED AND INSCRIBED MARLIN MODEL 1891 RIFLE
Description: 22 Cal. 24 inch octagon barrel with full length mag tube. Case colored receiver with deluxe checkered wood and pistol grip butt stock. Bbl. is a brownish patina that looks as if it were cleaned long ago. Mag tube has most blue remaining with a couple of cleaned spots. Receiver has faded case colors with some areas turning silver. Lever and hammer are about the same condition. Wood is sound with handling & use marks. Stock retains about 75% stock finish with checkering showing moderate to heavy wear. Action is good, but the hammer is not solid in the safety notch. Bore is good with some frosting. Receiver is engraved by Conrad Ulrich in #5 pattern with full coverage foliate arabesque patterns on the sides. Left side has a large ribbon engraved with the initials “CHK”. Both sides have Mr. Ulrich’s typical border patterns. Matching engraving patterns extend over the top & bottom of receiver and top tang. Left side of receiver has had a screw installed through the center which secures the Model 1892 cartridge cutoff that apparently was added at a later date. Rifle also has the 1892 1-pc trigger. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms. Since 1965 Mr. Merz has taken part in the world of firearms and has been a contributor to many well known reference books. Just recently we mailed the 128th edition of our privately-published catalog. We have hundreds of additional guns in every price range at our home online. Search for Merz Antiques in google.
