Mauser Rifle(7.65x53) Made by Loewe Berlin for Argentina Military in 1894(Imported/sporterized by Sears or Montgomery Ward in 1950s/60s)
Description: For Sale or Layaway: 1891 German Mauser rifle manufactured by Loewe Berlin for the Argentina Military chambered in 7.65x53 Argentine. These famously reliable and accurate rifles were imported in the 1950s and 60s by large corporations like Sears/Montgomery Wards, etc.. They were sporterized by cutting barrels down, stock forends cut off, reblued, new sights installed and function tested. These rifles were then put on the shelf and sold for around $17. A bargain for a great hunting rifle in that time period. This particular rifle appears to be one of those rifles. And it does appear that it was purchased, used very little after its reincarnation and sat in a closet for decades. The blueing on the barrel and receiver are 95%. The blueing is partially worn from the magazine. There is a sanded spot on the right side of stock where a damage spot repair was attempted. The bolt handle is bent which was customary of these reworked rifles. The barrel length is 21.5". 25 shells are also included but shipped separately. This is a great rifle for hunting or a collectible example of how used military firearm were recycled. The 7.65x53 is ballistically equivalent to the current 308 Winchester round. It can be reloaded by cutting down and resizing 30-06 brass. Simple, honest layaway plans available.
