Mauser Mm 410B .22 long rifle with period detachable Ziess scope
Description:
For sale: 1930s Commercial Mauser Mm410B .22 LR with period Zeiss Zielmar scope in claw mounts. This is essentially a scaled down Oberndorf hunting rifle.
The Mm stands for “Mebrlader mittelgewicht” (multi shot lightwight). The Mm series is the lightweight "hunting" rifles of the B series .22s manufactured by the Oberndorf Mauser plant from 1922 to 1939 (outbreak of the second world war). Those with adjustable rear sights were made between 1932 and 1939. These rifles have either a five digit serial numbers starting with “4”, which were destined for export out of Germany before the war and mostly sold to English customers, or a 6 digit serial number starting with “2”, as with this rifle, which were not for export. Some models have the year of manufacture stamped on the left hand side of the barrel, underneath the stock (you will have to remove the stock). Other stamps present include: "B" "U" "G" - these are the quality control check stamps during manufacture for nitro testing, inspection and proof (rifle). “KAL.22 LANG FÜR BÜCHSEN” translates to .22 Long Rifle. The "459" stamp is the barrel gauge (.22), while "ch19-23" indicates type of barrel steel, and "drgm" indicates the design is registered with the German patent office. This rifle is also marked with the Nazi Eagle waffenampt, which would have likely been added later.
This rifle is in excellent working condition with a bright, shiny bore. The scope was obviously installed by a period gunsmith in the manner of Mauser hunting rifles. The scope is readily detachable with the claw mount system. These scopes cost as much as the rifle in the 1930s. It has the very cool reticle with a hanging dot above the typical German post. The rifle shoots very well as all of these pre-war Mausers seem to. The stock has its original finish and is in good shape. The Mauser cartouche on the stock is crisp, as is the Mauser buttplatte. It has the later MAS 45 clip. The exterior of the metal has a few small patches of oxidation pits on the barrel and rates at about 85%. This is a rare combination with the period fitted, high quality scope. $35 SHIPPING AND INSURANCE. SALE PENDING
