Description: Type A Oberndorf Mauser 10.75x68 manufactured 1926-1927 and retailed by Manton & Co. Gunmakers, Calcutta & Delhi and so marked on the barrel, with a 24" round stepped barrel with a very good bore. Banded ramp front sight, banded sling eye, and express rear sight with one standing and four folding leaves. Single trigger. Marked "Made in Germany" on the floorplate. Classic Type A stock with horn forend tip, grip cap, and buttplate. Cased in its original tattered case with new straps, quality new handle, and original trade labels. This piece is all original with matching numbers on all small parts and the stock but does have a mismatched bolt which is a correct Oberndorf bolt but not numbered to the gun. The stock does show extensive use with a small repair below the bolt stop and extensive staining which I presume to be tiger blood. It is solid and without cracks. Blue appears to be original and remains at 85%. 8lb dead even. 14 1/2" LOP to a Mauser factory logo horn buttplate. This is the stuff that dreams are made of. What a story it could tell.
