Unit marked German GEW 88 Commission Carbine manufactured in 1892 by V.C. Schilling. Arsenal refurbished during the 1920s. Stock and receiver are double dated 1920, denoting government property and reissue. Upper barrel band is unit marked B.A.M. III.5.R. Serial numbers are matching except for the bolt, which has been renumbered. Bore is excellent. Wood has nice cartouches, with nicks and dings. Good- very good overall condition. A neat united marked commission carbine that probably has seen use in WWI and WWII!
