Austrian Model 1867/77 Werndl Infantry Rifle
Description: NSN, 11.15 x 58R, 33” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a nice old rifle that has “WERNDL” marking on the receiver and has an overall dark plum-brown patina on the metal, some fading and silvering at the muzzle and high edges, as well as spots of mild freckling along the barrel. The frame, lock, and standard trigger guard have a predominantly dark brown patina as well, but with some mild surface oxidation along the edges and a few areas of pinprick pitting on the lockplate too. The European walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout with some surface bruising at the toe of the butt and a small chip missing from the tail of the lockplate. Further small chips are present along the vacant ramrod channel, and there are some further small blemishes along the forearm. The action is tight and fully functional, and an original dried and heavily flaked leather sling is installed. The rifle also comes with an original Austrian Model 1870 bayonet, metal scabbard, and leather frog that are in commensurate condition. This is a great example of a Werndl Infantry Rifle in very good condition with accessories, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection.
