Description: GEORGE III FLINTLOCK NEW LAND PATTERN LIGHT INFANTRY MUSKET CA. 1805-15. 55” o/a with 40” round ,smoothbore .75 caliber barrel without proofs at breech. Lock stamped with the Royal Cypher “CROWN/G R” and Ordnance Inspector’s “CROWN/BROAD ARROW” small size stamp beneath the pan. Original flintlock configuration and not a reconversion with the original lock parts. Full length walnut stock with brass barrel wedges added as reinforcement during the period of use. Has wear and is well used with the frizzen pan worn thru and the frizzen spring reinforce with a copper wedge. Nice old dark patina on metal and stock in good condition. Type made on contract in Liege for the British during the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. SOLD Antique: Yes |
