Springfield Armory M1 Garand 1954
Description:
Beautiful example of a postwar Springfield Armory M1 Garand. Serial number 5374xxx, dates to 1954. SA 6-54 barrel with bright bore. Great looking Springfield stock with DAS stamp and circle "P".
This rifle is in excellent used condition with original finish, no pitting. No import marks. All parts are described below and shown in photos.
The rifle has been disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and test fired. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.
Sling noted below along with two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo), and canvas bandolier are included.

Springfield Armory M1 Garand sn 5374xxx Specs:
- Receiver: marked “F 6528291” on leg, heat lot A59. Excellent condition, no pitting.
- Barrel: marked “SA F6535448 6 54 MD 41” in op rod slot, with several “P” marks, punch mark, “T” and small stars and eagle stamp. Bore is bright and shiny, excellent crown and rifling.
- Barrel Gauge Measurements: Muzzle Wear (MW): 1, Throat Erosion (TE): 3
- Barrel band: two-piece flat top with roll pin
- Clip latch: late square front type.
- Op rod: flat side, marked “6535382 SA”. Excellent condition, no pitting, little finish wear. Op rod and bolt cycle freely by tilting when everything is assembled except main spring and hammer (Garands with binding or rubbing op rods tend to have feeding and/or ejecting problems).
- Op rod catch: late type, unmarked
- Bullet guide: stamped with notch
- Follower: late type, lightly marked “11”
- Follower arm: no bevel, unmarked
- Follower rod: long fork, riveted
- Bolt: marked “6528287-SA A14”
- Sight knobs: elevation “NHC”, windage “DRC”
- Rear sight cover: late type with ribs
- Rear sight aperture: double track
- Trigger housing: marked “6528290-SA”, no pitting.
- Trigger guard: stamped with stamped hook
- Trigger: late type, no extra hole
- Hammer: marked “SA D5546008”
- Hammer spring plunger: late type without wings
- Safety: round top, marked “SA 11”
- Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring marked “O”. May have some kind of black re-coating. The gas cylinder/barrel fit has been tightened to maximize accuracy.
- Front sight: 0.65 wide, unmarked
- Gas cylinder lock: late “high hump” type, unmarked
- Gas cylinder screw: cross slot, poppet valve type
- Stock: walnut, postwar SA, very tight lockup. Circled “P” on pistol grip, DAS (stars and eagle) on left side. No cracks, fewer than average dings/scratches, excellent appearance. Lockup is very tight.
- Handguards: walnut, same condition as stock, good color match
- Buttplate: square plunger type, good condition with finish wear.
- Sling: used, commontype
