WW2 Underwood M1 Carbine - Great Looking Carbine!
Description: This Underwood M1 Carbine came from the estate of a WW2 veteran who was an armorer during the war in the European theatre. It has not ever been arsenal rebuilt, but it is also not an "all original" gun in that there are some Inland parts mixed in, including the stock. This carbine has a very attractive Inland stock that still shows a nice large U.S. Ordnance Wheel cartouche as well as the "IO" stamp in the sling well. The front of the stock does not show any compression marks except for the Type 1 band which is installed. The stock and handguard are in excellent condition overall, free from cracks or repairs. It has had two differed rack numbers applied to it on the bottom of the pistol grip, "127" is lined out and "58" is painted below. It also has the number "33" stamped on the keel of the buttstock and above the slingwell. All of the metal parts are the original parkerized finish except for the flat bolt, trigger, and mag release which still have the original blue finish showing. The Underwood receiver still wears the original "Type 1" flip sight. The trigger housing has been changed out at some point and is now an Inland part as well. It appears to still have the original push-type safety and the original parkerizing shows the same age as the receiver. While there is no way to know for sure exactly how this M1 Carbine came to be in this configuration, everything looks like it has been together for a very long time. It is extremely likely this carbine was put together by the armorer who owned it during his service in WW2 and he brought it home this way. This would be an excellent M1 Carbine for someone wanting a nice all-WW2 example that could be shot and enjoyed as well as put up as an investment. It is a very handsome piece!!
