1943 U.S. Property Remington Model 513-T Matchmaster .22 Trainer
Description:
Here we have a nice example of a World War 2 production Remington Model 513-T Matchmaster that was made under contract for the U.S. Military. This example was manufactured in October of 1943 and is stamped with the "U.S. Property" stamp as well as "Military Finish". The rifle retains the majority of the green/gray parkerized finish that it left the factory with and appears to be all-original except for the magazine and possibly the front sight. The bore is bright and clean with strong rifling. It shows no signs of pitting or erosion and should be an excellent shooting .22 rifle. The original American Walnut pistol grip target-style stock is in pretty good condition overall. It shows some wear and use but it appears that it has been reasonably well cared for considering it was an issued military training rifle. There is one small arsenal repair to a gouge in the wood near the left front of the forearm, and there is a small crack at the top of the butt near the buttplate which is pictured. The stock still has the original factory checkered metal buttplate as well as the sling swivels installed, with the front sling swivel mounted on an adjustable plate on the bottom of the forearm. Everything works perfectly on this trainer, and it still wears the parkerized rear receiver-mounted Redfield adjustable target sight. The front sight also appears to be a Redfield-made unit but is blued rather than parkerized. The trigger on this U.S. Property 513-T Matchmaster is excellent. These Remington Matchmasters have a reputation for out-shooting rifles 5 times their cost and we feel certain that this one will perform. If you have been looking for one of these U.S. Military Matchmaster .22 trainers this example would be an excellent addition to your collection as an investment, and one that you could shoot without feeling guilty.
