Remington US Model 1903 WWII Issue 1942 M1903

SOLD
Remington US Model M1903, manufactured September 1942, serial number 32007xx. Remington barrel dated July 1942. Many parts are marked “R” for Remington, all are described below and shown in photos. No import marks.
This rifle is in excellent used condition. This is the early WWII M1903 (not M1903A3), of the same pattern as Springfield and Rock Island M1903 rifles of WWI. All metal has been reparkerized, but no parts had any rust or pitting. Bore is bright. Pistol grip “C” style stock.
The rifle has been disassembled, examined, cleaned, lubricated and test fired.

- Receiver: September 1942, excellent condition, absolutely no pitting, all markings sharp as new.
- Trigger guard: milled, floorplate marked “R”
- Magazine follower: marked “R”
- Follower spring: unmarked
- Barrel: marked “RA 7-42” with flaming bomb/punch mark and proof “P”. External finish in excellent condition. 4-groove rifling. Bore is bright like new, crown and riflings excellent.
- Barrel Gauge Measurements: ME (muzzle erosion) = 1, TE (throat erosion) = 1
- Rear sling swivel: unmarked
- Stacking swivel: unmarked
- Barrel band swivel: marked “U”
- Barrel band spring: milled type, unmarked

- Bolt: marked “R” and “42” under handle, large gas port. Hand engraved with last digits of serial
- Bolt sleeve: unmarked
- Safety: READY and SAFE in block letters, unmarked on edge
- Striker: marked “R”
- Firing pin/cocking piece: marked “R”
- Extractor: marked “R”, no gas port
- Extractor collar: marked “R”
- Ejector: marked “R”
- Magazine cutoff: ON/OFF in block lettering
- Front sight: base unmarked, insert marked “R”, blade unmarked
- Stock: walnut, pistol grip “C” type, no finger grooves, two recoil bolts. Marked “S” on forend and pistol grip cap, “O” near sling swivel, an inverted partial marking on left side which is probably “RA-P” (Raritan arsenal), small flaming bomb on forend tip. No cracks, fewer than average dings/scratches, very nice appearance.
- Handguard: walnut, no cracks, same condition as stock.
