SPANISH Remington Rolling Block No. 1 Carbine
Description:
SPANISH Remington Rolling Block No. 1 Carbine
One of the Most Rugged, Reliable Rifles of 1800s
Here we present a Spanish Remington Rolling Block Military Carbine, made at the end of the 19th Century. Denmark was the first of a long list of countries that would adopt the Remington Rolling Block for their militaries, after Sam Remington’s exhibition trip to Europe in 1866. Norway and Sweden each followed suit. The appeal of the Rolling Block was its strong, simple action. Though repeating rifles were becoming more and more refined and prevalent in civilian circles, militaries all around the world were still married to the idea of large bore, single shot rifles. This one is chambered in .43 Spanish.
The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces bear a smooth, dark patina. The markings are only partially legible. The bore is clean with strong rifling. The stock shows honest wear and the forearm is cracked under the single barrel band. The action on this carbine is strong.
This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
Barrel is 20-1/2 inches.
Caliber: .43 Spanish
Overall condition as seen in photos.
