Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .257 Roberts!
Description:
For sale, a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in the scarce .257 Roberts chambering. This Model 70 Featherweight was made sometime around 1982 or 1983. It has been shot and hunted with but not abused. The original factory gloss blue finish shows some wear on the floorplate and the bolt handle in particular but otherwise still looks nice and bright. The bore in the 22 inch barrel is still minty and bright. The rifling shows sharp lands and grooves and zero pitting or erosion. The checkered Walnut stock shows some light wear and handling marks but is solid and attractive. The stock is free from cracks or repairs and has a nicely fitted factory recoil pad that pulls 13.75 inches to the end of the pad. Everything works on this rifle 100% like the day it left Winchester's factory. It has a nice smooth action and a phenomenal light trigger that breaks cleanly. This Model 70 Featherweight comes with a period Redfield 1 piece base already mounted up. All it needs are some rings and a scope to be ready to go to the woods for Whitetail. It is very rare that we encounter any Winchester in the nostalgic .257 Roberts caliber, much less a Featherweight Model 70. The .257 Roberts cartridge is a perfect choice for medium sized game like Whitetail deer, and it has lately been seeing a resurgence in popularity. If you are the type of person who likes to have something different in the woods than all of your friends, this classic rifle would be a perfect choice!!
