“1844” DATED Antique U.S. Springfield 1842 Musket
Description: “1844” DATED Antique U.S. Springfield 1842 Musket Last .69 Caliber Regulation American Smoothbore Musket Here we present an antique U.S. Springfield Model 1842 Percussion Musket, made at Springfield Armory in 1846. The Model 1842 was a crossroads in U.S. firearms history. This was the last .69 caliber smoothbore produced by the U.S. It was also the first regulation model musket to be made in the percussion system and the first U.S. musket made at both Springfield and Harpers Ferry national arsenals. By no means were these out of service during the American Civil War. Soldiers from North & South would have carried these into battle. This .69 caliber smoothbore musket has a lock marked with a federal eagle over “U.S.” as well as “SPRING/FIELD/1844”. View and proof marks are located on the left side of the barrel. The left side of the stock bears two faint government inspector cartouches. The barrel length has been shortened to 34 inches with the stock length to match. The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have been brought back to bright. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock shows some wear and has been lightly sanded. The bore is smooth with light pitting. The action is strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 34 inches. Caliber: .69 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #5010 SOLD Antique: Yes |
