Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Carbine in .45-70 Caliber
Description:
The main difference between the 1884 Carbine and the previous trapdoor carbines was the addition of the Buffington rear sight with wind gauge. The additional length of the rear sight caused the leaves to overlap with the lower barrel band. This required the barrel band to be grooved to allow the Buffington rear sight leaf to rest upon it. The sight is marked with a "C". There were approximately 20,000 carbines manufactured and they fall within the serial number range of 325,000 to 480,000. The serial number of this carbine is 415,887. Overall condition is excellent including the bore and all working parts.
