.30-40 Krag caliber, 30" barrel, casehardened receiver marked "MODEL 1896". Bolt action with side loading magazine. Walnut stock with handguard bearing the U.S. inspector's cartouche dated "1898" Serial range 102xxx. I super original condition with the barrel retaining nearly all of the original blue, the front and rear band showing a fading gunmetal color. The receiver has soft arsenal case colors and the top spring with most of it's fire blue. Very fine wood with nice cartouche. Excellent bright bore. Difficult to find in this condition.
