Springfield Model 1873, 32-½” Barrel, chambered in 45-70 with a manufacture date of 1886 indicated by the serial number “337XXX”. The first standard issue breech-loading rifle adopted by the United States Army. This trapdoor is in excellent condition, with light pitting on the barrel and a few dings on the wood. Bore is in great shape, wood is also in excellent condition. Original markings, with an eagle crest and arrows above “US Springfield” on the lock plate, “U” markings on the barrel bands, “US” encircled on the butt plate, “VP” followed by an eagle on the barrel, also note a few more marking on the stock(refer to pics for a better description). Overall in great shape for its age.
