Winchester Pre-64 Model-70 Varmint
Description:
Sale Pending
For Sale is a close to perfect specimen of the Varmint Pre-64 Model-70 in 243 WIn. The thing that distinguishes this rifle from most other Varmint 70's is thefact that it was built at the ending period of steel tear-drop butt plates. Shortly after it was built, WInchester found it more cost effective to go to the plastic butt plate instead. This rifle has a 26" heavy SS barrel with the grayish cast bluing that was done in the SS process bluing. It also has a solid 95% on the wood, with way above standard figure in the grain and crisp and sharp checkering. The metal has to be rated at 98%, from the untarnished floorplate and trigger guard, all the way out to the end of the barrel, at the crown, where there is evidence of it being fired very little. All in all, it is a great representation of the Varmint Model. I know that there are duplicate photos, but GI sight would not let me delete. Because of the weight and the insurance on this rifle, shipping will be $50,
I am a private collector/seller and will try to answer any questions you may have about this rifle, but please make any calls between 8AM-8PM Central Time. Thank you for looking.
