Texas Ranger Owned Winchester 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine and Winchester 1901 Shotgun. Both guns were owned by Texas Ranger W.A “Dolph” Fleming during his career as a law man which started in the Texas Rangers in 1917 and continued in the Border Patrol which he was in until his death in 1948. A letter from his son accompanies these two guns along with his enlistment oath and copies of photographs of Ranger Fleming. The Winchester 1895 was made in 1915. It has a brown patina with scattered light pitting. This according to the paperwork was Ranger Fleming’s saddle gun he carried in a scabbard when he was on Horse patrol. The Winchester 1901 was made in 1912. The barrel has tuner to a dark gray patina while the frame still has quite a lot of the factory blue. This was Ranger Fleming’s riot gun. Very neat historic Texas Ranger pair!
