Rare Winchester Model 1866 with Factory Letter
Description:
This Winchester Model 1866 has some rare special features going for it. The accompanying factory letter shows it shipped from the warehouse on Nov 16, 1889. The gun is complete with the three piece cleaning rod in the buttstock compartment.
Aged brass receiver with only a few slight mars, dark wood stocks with some minor handling marks.
This is one of the rarer carbines having the 44 RF caliber stampings, as noted by Madis in The Winchester Book. These stampings, on the barrel between the rear sight and the receiver and also on the bottom of the carrier block, along with the serial number of 167,255 are indications that this was originally a foreign order.
Please check back soon as we have acquired another collection that we will be listing in the following weeks, including some very desirable firearms.
