Description:
#4937 Winchester 1886 “Short Rifle”, 20”OBFMCB, 45/70 with a bore almost like new …because it is almost new (being a rebore). This is obviously a build-up from parts and for use as a handy carbine length back-packing big bore rifle so it has very little collectability other than being an 1894 manufacture rifle (87XXX) and thus an antique. As can be seen in the photos, aside of the receiver metal, it has very little pitting, good markings, and nice wood. BUT, the receiver has light to heavy pitting and will take a lot of buffing and draw-filing to improve it. As a shooter, it should be a really shoulder thumper and able to take down most animals in North America or perhaps a neat Cowboy Action re-inactor big bore rifle. About G-VG as described. $1795
