INTERESTING 1892 WINCHESTER RIFLE
Description:
.38WCF Cal. Oct bbl, full mag and crescent butt. Receiver is a grey/brown patina with hints of blue in protected areas. The bbl has aged to a blue/brown color. Butt stock fits nice. It has a repaired chip in the upper corner and the orig piece was used. Nice and solid and fits good. The rest of the stock is in good cond. Good fit to upper and lower tang. Forearm wood is very nice and good fitting. Action is good. Bore is a bit rough and could use a good cleaning. This is a very interesting gun because it has "WRACO" stamp over where the serial number had been. Winchester would not do business with companies like Sears & Roebuck and others that would cut the retail price of their guns. Those companies would have to get the Winchesters they sold from other dealers or jobbers that would remove the serial number so Winchester could not trace it back to them as the source. When one of those guns with the serial number removed was returned to Winchester for repair, it would have the "WRACO" marking put on it, making them quite a rare specimen. An interesting rifle!
