INTERESTING WINCHESTER 1873
Description:
On the side plate is marked "R B Rodda and Co London and Calcutta". This gun was exported to London and does have London proofs on it. Cal 44. There is also some marking on the bbl underneath the sight but I don't know what language it is. Certainly not English. Early gun at just over 100k. Still has the early style rear sight and standard German silver front. Equipped with a round bbl, full length mag tube and crescent buttplate. Some blue remaining on the receiver but quite a bit is worn off. The bbl is some blue some brown and some grey. Overall metal cond is quite good. Dust cover is present. Nice bright shiny bore but has a ring about 8" from muzzle. Buttstock is in relatively good shape. Forearm shows quite a bit of use. Everybody loved Winchesters in the early days. A lot of 73s and later on the big bores went over to Europe. This one made its way back home. I could only imagine the stories If only it could talk.
