Description:
Winchester Model 1873 SRC .44-40 W.C.F. A Saddle Ring Carbine, hence the SRC in the web-ad title. A third model 1873 carbine with integral grooves for the ejection port dust cover. Has a 20" barrel with standard carbine sights, front blade and adjustable ladder "carbine" rear sight. The butt-stock sports the a carbine, curved steel, butt-plate with sliding brass trapdoor for tool compartment, empty but trapdoor works real well. Issues: The the sliding ejection port dust cover is missing, and so is the adjustable sliding leaf to the ladder of the rear sight. There is a piece of tin between the barrel and rear sight, which look's to have been there for the age of the rifle. Metal Condition: Scratched and dinged, and a couple of shallow dents in the magazine tube. There some light hints of remaining blued finish, otherwise patina, patina and more patina. Wood Condition: Buttstock is weathered, has dings, scratches and is cracked in the wrist on the right side, Wood missing from corners at the top tang. Stocks are have dings and scratches, and is cracked along the bottom on muzzle-end of forend/barrel band, and has the name of Ira True scratched into the right side. Bore Condition: Grayed bore with corrosion throughout and some pitting. Lands of the rifling are still very present. The rifle was manufactured in 1885 with Serial Number 186785 B.
