Pre War Pre 64 Winchester 70 300 H&H Magnum Rare!
Description:
A beautiful and extremely scarce example of the finest sporting rifle ever created, the unparalleled Pre War Winchester Model 70. Chambered in the first, and still best 300 of them all, the 300 H&H Magnum. The barrel is correctly stamped only "300 Magnum", since there were no other competing 300s yet in existence. Has the 26" barrel with an undrilled rear receiver bridge! S/N 18*** with matching bolt, Mfg. in 1939. Among the last of the early 70s that would feature the gorgeous carbonum blued receivers, before going to the matte finish for remainder of production. The blueing is in superb condition, especially considering it's 78 years, easily rating near 98%. The wood is also in very nice shape but does show some scattered impressions most notably on the comb and underside of fore end. There is also a tiny chip and what appears to be a 1/2" tight, dark line originating from the tang, presumably a fine crack from recoil. There is a nickel size spot of touch up near heel of stock on R side that does not detract. Mechanics and bore are outstanding.
Overall, one of the nicest and most original 300 Magnum I have personally ever encountered, despite it's few minor blems.
